Urban Ducks

  Hello folks,

Today We went to the Zoo and I got sunburnt :-) !!!! I knew it was going to be a day for observing nature in all her splendor when as we were walking down to the village center we met a duck and her 15 babies!!(count them)!! Ill never complain that Luka is a handful again..(Not till he wakes up anyway!)

We had a great day there, the weather has been wonderful, the beer in the restaurant was ice cold and they even had a fairground ride Luka could go on by himself, which made me realize how fast he is growing up, I have posted some pics on our main website if you want to have a look.

Its a funny old place for an Englishman though, I think of Zoos as being all Lions and Tigers, but Stockholm's has Scandinavian Wildlife, I.E. Moose's, Wolves, Bears, Wolverines, Seals, Lynx and Pygmy goats (?) and then there is a monkey house and Tropical aquarium (??), I suppose any big African outdoor beasties wouldn't make it through the Swedish winter without a great deal of thermal underwear, so Luka will have to wait till we go to England and Dudley zoo before he gets to see eye to eye with a giraffe , so to speak...

Its an early start again tomorrow, so I'm not hanging around, just wanted to say hello...

Pub in 25 min!!!!

Greetings,

Its Friday night, and I'm just waiting for Malin to get back from the pub (again) then Its "English guys night out" down at the local, so I thought I would just write a quick note to say I passed my fire course, and I am now licensed to oversee welding, roofing, and any other "hot" work in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, and also learned the Swedish for paraffin is "fotogen". All exciting stuff.

..............Baby update..........

Discovered today that Luka now has back teeth, (3), and he REALLY likes Kebab... Thats my boy...

although he would rather have an Ice lol than a beer, but he is very young...

      Love ya all,

Parental Squalor

Hello World,

Thursday night and Malin is out on the town with friends , which is quite cool actually because it gives me time to Blog some, and I finally have my fire safety course tomorrow morning (I missed the last 2 dates due to getting the month wrong and Luka being sick) so I'm happy with staying in tonight and perhaps cleaning a little.....

Which brings me to whats on my mind, I realised tonight that we could have a load of childless Friends round a little later, and we haven't scraped any banana off the furniture for a few days, now this wouldn't matter if it was someone we know with kids, but when I think back to times before Luka arrived I could never imagine having a sink full of shitty nappies in the bathroom ( we have got 2 sinks!!)  or just stepping over a half eaten apple in the middle of the floor. I know that no one would have minded our mess in the slightest but it made me think how parenthood changes your perspective so much, I really don't think that Luka is in much danger of catching anything too serious from the muck he creates and we keep on top of it as best we can, but there is always 20 things to do before you can get round to peeling the baked beans off the lampshade and sweep up the crumbs from the whole packet of biscuits he has  just tried to stick in his ear. If you have Kids you know what I mean, If you dont, you have no idea.....yet  Smile

Grrrrrrrr....   I had a really funny picture to post but its not uploading properly, and I cant be bothered to fight with the PC right now, I've spent the last 2 days ridding this thing of some nasty virus it picked up, I think I have shifted it now but it wasn't fun, I blame Oskar, I'm sure hes looking at pussy pictures while we are out ;-)

    Be good folks,

   Lee

  PS  Thought for the day....

Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.

Hangover Thursday!!!

Hello everybody peeps,

Well last night was a great success, The meal at Gondolen was very nice indeed, especially as I didn't have to pay anything for it :-) It really is a very nice restaurant, this is the view from there, its up in the air looking out over the city and its such a great view. If you are a Nerd like me its made all the better for having Venus shining brightly there in the top left...

PICT0048.JPG

After the meal we went and had some drinks around the South side of town and I met up with Malin who had her students end of term party the same night, Stina and Enar baby sat for us and we took a taxi home with a couple of other Friends around 1 am and carried the party on a little longer... all of which was great fun until this morning.... OI OI OI!! as we say in Sweden, I was a little rough but Malin has been dieing all day, and its not the easiest thing in the world to keep an 18 month old amused when all you want to do is nurse your aching head... so we went out for lunch then took Luka down to Baby world for the first time, its a bit like a wacky warehouse but without the bar....that kept him amused for an  hour or two so we could chill out a little....

Luka had a great time, there is ball pits, slides, bouncy castles and loads of other small terrors running about, so I'm sure we will be back soon.

Anywaysup, im still not feeling 100% so Im off to bed now, Its been a good birthday week but im sort of glad I dont have any more partying to do for a while now, I need the restCool

and remember folks, You must believe in free will; there is no choice.

Back to normal (for a night)

Well hello there Friends,

I know its been a while, and I'm sorry, but it seems like life is all or nothing at the moment..and for the last week its been ALL ALL ALL (but in a good way)

I became another year younger on Saturday, the first time my birthday has fallen on a Saturday for years I think, perhaps it has, but if so I dint remember.... anyway I had a great day, I went to see "Roving Mars" at Stockholm's IMAX cinema (REALY big round 3D type screen and monster surround sound), there was just the 2 of us nerds for this bit of my celebrations, but I loved it :-)   then we went out for an Indian meal, then a beer or 2 around Stockholm's southside and then on to the strangest club night I have ever seen! (and Ive been to some strange nights!!)  It was a Space themed gay/mixed night with optional fancy dress, I'm just sad my camera had died!! Our party was about 15 strong by now  and I think we (almost) all had a really good time, I got home around 3AM I have been told. I am so happy I have such a good mix of nice Friends out here also, there were Danish, English, Swedish and Finnish in the company , All very cosmopolitan.

My Father, and his new girlfriend Wendy babysat for us, They arrived on Friday and went home this morning, it was a little nerve wracking meeting her for the first time, because My Dads been acting like a lovestruck teenager for the last few weeks, but Wendy is SOOOO sweet and they seem so happy and loved up I cant help but approve, To all you singles out there, its never too late to find love... Respect Pa and Wendy.

and the other days since I last wrote have just been a whirlwind of nappies, work, teething, ice cream and negotiating pay rises....time just flys by when you are having fun......

Its great to hear from so many old and new Friends in our guestbook,:

Sue... who are you? and how come your E-mail don't exist?, Stuart, I'm crap, Ive got my holiday dates confirmed now, I will ring you if you send me Ya number, Shilo , WOW, wasn't expecting to hear from you, lol, but nicely surprised . will write soon, Shaz and Kirsty great to hear from you girls, Ill add you to my mailing list, and hope to see you soon.  And Hi everyone else, Sorry I don't write so often, but this is about all I can manage when I REALLY mean to write every other day,

We are in England from Friday the 15th till Sunday the24th of June, Malins Mom and Dad are with us for the first 4 days, Its Malins Moms first time in England and her Dad hasn't been here since the 70s so it will be fun showing them round the sights of Walsall....and then the next 3 1/2 days we will take them somewhere nice...then we are chilling out, We decided we arnt going to stress running round to see everybody this time, we are just gonna say where we are and when, and people can come if they want, the only fixed plan right now is that we will be in Birmingham Friday night celebrating Mid-summer. Party at my moms whoever wants to come then a club in town later....  ;-)

Anyway, I'm saying goodnight, its a bank holiday on Thursday and we have a works party at one of the poshest restaurants in Stockholm tomorrow night.....Me? Lee Stevenson? in a posh restaurant? surely not.....Will the madness ever end :-P

May 03, 2007

Shalom my esteemed friends!!

HELLO!!!

Its a quiet Thursday night in sunny Sweden and Ive just been compiling a CD to annoy the guys at work with, most of my work pals are rockers, so my "10 favorite dance tunes" should go down a bomb tomorrow :-)

Its very nice to hear from Friends old and new in the guest book , thanks everyone for replying, and the more feedback I get I suppose the more I will write, Its good to babble.

The last week and a bit have been quite eventful as it happens. Last Saturday I was out with my pal Thomas the rocker, Stockholm's hardest rocking guitar god and we ended up at an album release party for another friend of mines Ska band, Eskalator. All very 1979 and The Specials but in Swedish, a great gig anyway, 10 piece band, horn section, the works....and a great CD also, I'm gonna put a tune or 2 and a link to there site in my main site in the next few days, so check it out if you can. After we were Ska'd out we carried on round the town for a few more, then home when the door staff started questioning our sobriety!

Then in the middle of the week came another weekend, Unlike England which bunches all bank holidays with the weekend these days , Sweden still has them on the days they fall on, which meant we finished work at 3 on Monday and were off Tuesday. I'm not a hundred percent sure if its May day bank holiday, The Swedish for it is Välborg or something, and its to celebrate the coming of the Summer, so there are fun fairs and bonfires around every corner, and the streets are paved with drunk teenagers clutching cheap cider bottles, (apparently its also traditionally the time to get your first alcohol induced stupor). Actually, I was very surprised by the bonfire we took Luka to, considering Sweden is such a safety conscious country there were no barriers, no firemen, no visible safety measures at all acctualy........ Perhaps the Swedes are just bright enough NOT to fall into the fire or get so close they set themselves alight...????

As far as we could tell no one got roasted anyway, although the funfair was a bit sad, 2 rides and a raffle, but it was nice to have a break in the middle of the week, and even though today feels like a Tuesday, its Friday tomorrow!!!!Smile.
