Nova Kathleen Ebba Stevenson
The first 10 days.

It all started around 8pm Tuesday 11th March while
painting our apartment. Malin had been running up and
down ladders and jumping around having decided that
now was a good time to have a baby.
We called the babysitter for Luka and then the Hospital
who told us that the local Hospital was full and we would
have to go to Upsala hospital instead.
I said "OK" , hung up and went to check the map....

I forgot to mention that
Luka was sick with a
fever so I had to come
home , and I don't drive.
So although we had a lift
to the Hospital , I was
going to have to travel
to and from the hospital
with public transport .
I called them back and
they said we could come
in and they would
squeeze us in
somewhere.
HUGE sighs of relief!!

Our good friend Jocke gave
us a lift to the hospital
around 9pm, by which time
Malin was starting to pant
a little and actually swore
at  me when I took this
photograph!

When we got to the Hospital , We were taken into a birthing room
and Malin was told, much to her distress, that she was too far
gone to be given any pain relief, for the squeamish I shall omit
the details of the next couple of hours, except to say they
involved 1 midwife pushing down on her belly while another
shouted "PUSH!!" and a doctor pulled on something resembling a
stainless steel vacuum cleaner atached to a chain. It was all
quite medievil , but then I suppose they knew what they were
doing because at 11.36 pm out popped little Nova.

Good work by all
concerned!!
Malin has
commented that it
was without a
doubt the worst
thing she has
experienced to
date, but worth
every second!

Even at this early stage some signs of Novas personality are begining
to show. She is calm and relaxed and hardly ever screams unlike her
big brother who spent his first few months mostly doing this....
And Nova is much more like this...
But they love each other already!!!
